Announcements:

Dave Harkness – came in to invite us to attend the South Tacoma Rotary Annual Putt-Putt Mini-Golf and “Raise the Paddle” event.  This single fundraising event has been very beneficial throughout the community over the years and well supported by the members of Clover Park Rotary. Save the date, come out and play on Friday, October 12th.   Doors open and cocktails begin at 5:00pm; dinner is 6:00 to 6:45pm and Tee-Time is 7:00pm. (Anyone interested in forming a team or two?)

President Heidi – Reminded everyone that this month’s Club Fellowship will be conducted at Lakewood Playhouse, September 27th from 6:00 -7:00pm.  Come out and support this year’s event....and bring a friend or two!

Bob Lawrence – followed up on last week’s invitation to the upcoming Lakewood Film-Arts-Books (FAB) Festival.  This event will be held on September 28-30 at the McGavick Center on Steilacoom Blvd.

Sydna Koontz – reminded us about the Partner’s for Parks Hot Dog Roast on Friday, Sep 21stat 5:30.  Come out and find out about the next project that the Partners are considering. Sydna promised that there will be S'Mores!

Sydna Koontz – Reminded us that the deadline for submitting nominations for the Larry Saunders Community Service Award is September 28.

John Munn – Reminded all to bring wine to our Wednesday meeting next week for our Theater event.

Presidents Time.

Memorable Fines and Moments with Gen Ed (assisted by Red Badger Renee Hanna):

Sheri Hodson – Ratted on Rotarians who signed up, but did not attend the Custer Elementary Spaghetti Feed.

Birthdays – Fred Willis is celebrating his 87thyear.  Bob Lawrence is celebrating his 71st.

Wachters – were collected from Sydna Koontz and Renee Hanna.

General Ed – did not want our visiting Rotarians, who are both Past-Presidents as well, to feel “left out”,so he levied fines on Don Daniels and Dave Harkness for visiting today.

Joyce Loveday– explained that the covered “dirt piles on the west end of CPTC Campus are soil contaminated by a former dry cleaning operation that was on that spot years ago and talked about progress in remediation.  She also informed us about a new program which CPTC will offer that provides a free scholarship for the 13thyear for select high school students in the community.

Bob Lawrence– bagged 13 pheasants and one dove last weekend during his South Dakota foray.  He rolled up his trip, Annual Dues and Paul Harris WRAY into a tidy contribution.

Tom McClelland– announced that West Point was cited in US News and World Report as the #1 USA Public School (Liberal Arts College) for 2019.  He paid a $20 fine and challenged any other USMA Graduates present to follow his lead. General Ed, quietly humming "On, Brave Old Army Team!" matched Tom's fine and added $5 to commemorate his five years at the four-year institution.

Today’s Program:

Club Committee meetings ensued.  Progress reports are due next week. Fruitful discussions were overheard at each table.

Raffle Drawing:

Bob Lawrence - held the winning ticket this week.  Unfortunately he did not draw an Ace.... $5.00 collected.  We are down to 8 cards remaining (one of them is an ace). BIG BUCKS IN THE POT!!!  Next week could be your week!
