[ed. note: Your regular editor is away this month on a pilgrimage to the mecca of golfers, St. Andrews, and so your substitute editor gets to fill in, even though at this moment he is bobbing up and down in the Strait of Juan de Fuca with 2000 of his closest friends, and enduring the privations of a barely adequate WiFi signal, and an all-you-can-eat buffet that is only open for 18 hours out of each day.]

Announcements:
President Heidi - announced that District Governor Craig Gillis will visit our Club on August 22.  She asks all Officers be present by 11:00 am.

Guest Bob Warfield asked that we consider donating to the Lakewood Community Foundation. The Foundation’s goal is to establish a $1 million endowment in order to fund projects and scholarships to benefit children, families, and charities in Lakewood.

President's Time
President Heidi – used her time today to lay the ground rules for this club assembly.

Memorable Fines and Moments with Gen Ed:
Paul Webb - paid a Wachter for $100.

Ed Trobaugh – paid up for his trip to a Family Reunion in Indiana.

Clarke Thomson - made the appropriate gesture for his 45th Birthday.

Bob Lawrence won the bid at $25.  The prize was a Golf Pass for 2 with cart (a misplaced Golf Scramble Raffle Gift) at the VA Golf Course.

Today’s Program:
Today's feature was a Club Assembly.  All committees were encouraged to meet and work on current and upcoming projects.  Committee chairs will have an opportunity to report on their discussions during their respective sessions meeting on August 29th.

[ed. note: Your editor is reminded of the famous quote from columnist George Will, who noted: “Football combines the two worst things about America: it is violence punctuated by committee meetings.”  Presumably there was no violence at this Rotary meeting, although Tank's notes are rather mum on that topic.]

Raffle Drawing:
Marie Barth held the winning ticket week, but unfortunately she did not draw an Ace.... $5.00 awarded.

And Finally…
